Automotive Motor Oil
Engine oil lubricates the moving parts of the engine, reducing friction and wear. It also helps in cooling the engine by carrying heat away, cleaning deposits and contaminants, and providing a seal between the engine parts.
The frequency of oil changes can depend on the vehicle make and model, as well as the type of oil used. Generally, it is recommended to change conventional oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, while synthetic oil can last between 7,500 to 10,000 miles. Always refer to your owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
The main types of engine oil are conventional oil, synthetic oil, synthetic blend oil, and high-mileage oil. Conventional oil is refined from crude oil, while synthetic oil is chemically engineered. Synthetic blends combine both conventional and synthetic oils, and high-mileage oils are formulated for vehicles with over 75,000 miles.
To determine the right engine oil for your vehicle, check the owner’s manual. It will specify the preferred viscosity (e.g., 5W-30) and whether conventional, synthetic, or a blend is recommended. Additionally, consider the driving conditions and climate, which can affect oil performance.
Using the wrong oil can lead to inadequate lubrication, increased wear, overheating, and possible engine damage. It is important to use oil that meets the specifications outlined in your vehicle's owner’s manual to ensure optimal engine performance and longevity.
Antifreeze
Yes, we do sell antifreeze in 55-gallon drums. Please contact us more details about our product options, specifications, or pricing.
PEAK Antifreeze & Coolant Global Lifetime is formulated for use in all American, Asian, and European automobiles.
While mixing is not recommended, this technology is compatible with all other antifreeze/coolants.
PEAK RV & Marine Antifreeze is a blend of propylene glycol / ethyl alcohol based winter storage antifreeze. It is an economical formula that will protect all recreational water supply systems which includes: cottages, pools, RV’s and marine systems against bursting down to -50°F when used full strength.
Commercial & Heavy Duty Oils
Commercial oils are designed for a wide range of applications, including light-duty vehicles, while heavy-duty oils are specifically formulated to meet the demands of larger, more powerful engines, such as those found in trucks and construction equipment.
When choosing heavy-duty engine oil, look for specifications such as API (American Petroleum Institute) ratings, ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association) classifications, and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) approvals to ensure compatibility with your engine.
The oil change interval for heavy-duty engines can vary based on the manufacturer’s recommendations, operating conditions, and oil type. Generally, it's advisable to change the oil every 5,000 to 15,000 miles or every 250 to 500 operating hours.
Synthetic heavy-duty oils offer superior performance, better protection against wear, improved viscosity at extreme temperatures, and enhanced engine cleanliness compared to conventional oils. They can also extend oil change intervals.
It is generally not recommended to mix different types of oils, as this can lead to decreased performance and potential damage to the engine. If you must mix oils, ensure they are of similar base types and specifications. Always check the manufacturer's recommendations first.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid
DEF is a mixture of high-purity urea (32.5%) and water (67.5%). It is used to chemically reduce the concentration of nitrogen oxide (NOx) in the exhaust emissions from diesel engines. DEF is contained in a designated DEF tank on the vehicle. Never fill the diesel fuel tank with DEF or try to use it as a fuel additive.
DEF does not have to be replenished every time the diesel fuel tank is being filled.
The required amount is about 3% of the vehicle’s diesel fuel consumption; ie. For every 100 gallons of diesel fuel consumed, only 3 gallons of DEF is required.
DEF is non-toxic, stable, odorless, and colorless. If it gets on your skin or clothes, rinse with water. If in eyes, flush with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Although DEF is colorless, avoid spilling on clothing or vehicle upholstery.

DEF should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area at a constant temperature. For optimal shelf life (12 months), store between 86°F/30°C and 12°F/-11°C. It is better to keep DEF indoors, but an outdoor heated enclosure/container is also suitable. Avoid storing in direct sunlight. DEF will freeze at 12°F/-11°C. However, frozen fluid can be thawed and used without concerns of product degradation.
